Preserving Your Heirlooms

Saree Care & Maintenance Guide

Every saree in our studio is personally hand-picked for its craft, drape, and character. Follow our care recommendations to preserve its elegance for years to come.

✨ Golden Rule: Dry Clean Only

Because our sarees are hand-loomed and handcrafted using natural fibers, intricate zari motifs, and delicate organic dyes, we strongly recommend Dry Clean Only for all items to protect color vibrancy, weave structure, and fabric integrity.

Care Tips by Fabric Type

🌿 Hand-Block Printed & Malmal Cotton Sarees

Dry cleaning is recommended for the first few cleans to lock in natural block print dyes. Always store cotton sarees in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent color fading.

👑 Banarasi, Mysore Crepe & Pure Silk Sarees

Strictly Dry Clean Only. Never spray perfume, deodorant, or hairspray directly onto zari borders or pure silk fabric. Always iron on low heat with a thin cotton cloth placed over the saree as a barrier.

🎨 Pen & Block Kalamkari Sarees

Strictly Dry Clean Only. Hand-painted and organic plant dyes require gentle professional dry cleaning to prevent bleed or discoloration.

Best Practices for Storing Your Sarees

  • Wrap in Breathable Cotton: Store your silk and handloom sarees wrapped in breathable cotton or muslin bags. Avoid storing them in plastic covers, as trapped humidity can damage natural silk yarns.
  • Refold Periodically: Take your sarees out every 3 to 4 months, air them in a shaded area, and refold them along different fold lines to prevent permanent crease wear.
  • Avoid Metal Hangers: Heavy silk sarees should be stored flat or hung using padded hangers to avoid stretching the weave.
